Mediation Fees and Funding

Whether you qualify for financial support or not, mediation costs significantly less than going to court. 

The cost of mediation can vary depending on your circumstances. Some support options, such as legal aid for mediation and the government voucher scheme are available.

The government voucher scheme 

  • Up to £500 of free mediation for joint sessions  
  • Available to anyone who wants to discuss children during mediation 
  • Doesn’t cover cost of mediation information and assessment meeting (MIAM)

Legal aid for mediation

  • If you qualify all appointments will be free of charge.  
  • If your ex-partner qualifies your MIAM will be free, and your first joint session will be free.

Private mediation fees

1. Mediation information and assessment meeting (MIAM)  

£119 per person – up to one hour  

(£30 non-refundable deposit) 

 

2. Joint session  

£198 per person – one and a half hours  

(£50 non-refundable deposit) 

 

3. Child-inclusive mediation session 

£75 per parent or guardian – up to one hour 

 

4. Memorandum of understanding

£132 per person 

 

5. Open financial summary

£132 per person
